“the criteria of beauty in ancient, then classical, Greece still hold true. There have never been more beautiful representations of women”.

Reviving Timeless Beauty: Sustainable Ancient Greek Fashion Reimagined
The inspiration for the Ancient Greek inspired collection came from the fascination of the designer with the art, architecture, and fashion of ancient Greece. Drawn by the simplicity and elegance of the clothing styles of the time period, the designer aimed to create a collection that would incorporate these traditional clothing elements, while also infusing them with a modern, sustainable twist.
The concept was to design a collection of clothing pieces that paid homage to the beauty and simplicity of Ancient Greek fashion while also using sustainable materials and upcycling existing clothing pieces. The designer wanted to showcase the timelessness of Ancient Greek style while also promoting a more eco-conscious approach to fashion.

From Thrift to Treasure
To begin the design process, the designer sourced thrifted garments that could be repurposed and upcycled into the Ancient Greek inspired collection. An old pair of pants was used as the base for the tunic, and a silk organza garment was used to add delicate detail to the designs. Sketches were made to create pieces that were simple and elegant, with clean lines and minimal embellishments. A neutral color palette was chosen, with shades of white, cream, and beige, to mimic the colors of Ancient Greek clothing.
The tunic was created by using the old pants as the base, cutting and sewing them into a loose-fitting garment that could be wrapped around the body. Silk organza detailing was added to the hem and sleeves, creating a delicate and feminine touch. The himation was made from a thrifted bedsheet, cut and hemmed into a simple rectangle shape, with gold detailing on the edges. The chiton was created by repurposing an old t-shirt, which was cut and sewn into a loose-fitting draped garment with pleated detailing and silk organza accents.

Draping: Bringing the Design to Life
Draping is where the design starts to take shape in three dimensions. In this page, Ham Ham explores the draping phase, where she creates a muslin prototype to refine the fit and silhouette of the garment. She pays attention to the lines and curves of the design, ensuring that it flatters the body and achieves the desired effect. This phase requires technical expertise and attention to detail.

Timeless Sustainability: The Eco-Chic Ancient Greek Collection
The final products in the Ancient Greek inspired collection were a tunic, himation, and chiton, each made from repurposed thrifted garments and infused with a modern, sustainable twist. The overall effect was a collection of timeless pieces that paid homage to the beauty and simplicity of Ancient Greek fashion while also promoting a more eco-conscious approach to fashion.
